Can someone please explain why is he shooting way less than usual? (I'm not very familiar with basketball). I think the main player for other teams usually shoots around 20
I counted 6 dimes from Luka to KP. They need to play more together. And as said before here in the comments, a cutting KP is better than one shooting way behind the 3pt lin
Watching Luka and Porzingis play together, dude could average 20 assist every night if them 2 could play the entire game together. His rebounds and assists are up from last year, and it's starting to look like he is going to lead the league in assists this year.
He's #14 of all time with 30. Already passed Jordan and just starting his 3rd year....aaand he's 21.😂 Raja Rondo is next with 32, then there's Jokic with 46 and Harden with 48. Luka will pass them without a doubt by the end of this year, it's crazy.
Can someone please explain why is he shooting way less than usual? (I'm not very familiar with basketball). I think the main player for other teams usually shoots around 20-25 times a game and is kind of frustrating seeing him shoot 10-15 times like the last 2 games. Is this a new thing for Luka trying to adjust to the team going forward or just a short term thing? I hate to see him record triple doubles with averaging 13 points per game.
@Oldschool87 I don't know. But Luka seemed playing well. a triple double is a triple double, also he was the one helping the teammates to score points. anyways the season is long, we will see.
@Mence That is true, I'm a soccer guy hahaha! I love watching the wizards like De Bruyne, Silva, Xavi etc. I hope you are right and it did get a little under my skin that he wasn't shooting as much. Idk it felt like after the Bull's game he's just kind of changed his attitude a bit. Almost seems like the teammates complained to him like it happened in Atlanta with Trae and Collins. It could be just me but he seemed way more timid than usual and I think theres something going on with him and Porzingis. But once again that's just my opinion and I hope he does score at least 20 going forward and the Mavs win =)
@Oldschool87 in an irrealistic scenario where Luka never scores a lot, but mavs keep winning every game for the next 10 years it would be 10 chip. I think that with 10 chip he would be happy even if not winning an mvp title. I really dont see the problem, in other sports there are bunch of legends that even if never scored a lot or never won a trophy for being the best player are considered legends. In football(or soccer if you prefer) players like Iniesta or Pirlo are considered legends and two of the best midlfier ever. But still they never won a ballon d'or or scored dozens of goals.
@Mence That is true I'm happy the Mavs won too. This is just a scenario thing, let's say the team starts winning with him having similar numbers like a near triple double with 15 points ppg average, does this hurt his status as a superstar? I mean the NBA seems to be so much about the numbers.
Pacers played box-and-one defense. So Luka had Always a player to defend against him. Also they doubled him often. That's why he had to play more passing the ball than shooting. Anyways mavs won, so i think Luka Is Happy with It even if he had not the possibilities to makes a lot of points.
I counted 6 dimes from Luka to KP. They need to play more together. And as said before here in the comments, a cutting KP is better than one shooting way behind the 3pt line.
@Mence yes thats what separates great players from bad players... CURRY is double teamed and keeps missing shoots till he makes one, because he knows at the end people will only get paid and win awards thanks to stats....JUST LOOK at JOKIC...
@Only Facts stats are Just stats. If you have Always two players ti defend on you it's difficoult to make points. Anyways mavs won because of that kind of defense, so even if Luka did not score a lot, all the team had more chances
Did you forgt he scored 30 in a half and still lost? It was because his teammates never got a mommentum.. And now look the boxscore 8/9 who played this game scored atleast 6+ points and they won..
Seeing posts below is like seeing a club of Luka haters. 11 assists and just 3 turnovers in the whole game against Pacers defence is a masterpiece. In the 1st quarter he opened Pacers like a can. Congrats to Mavs, especially Luka and KP, at last.
@Ray Thomas did you just forget it was their 1st playoff appearance with the 2nd best guy missing, yet still making NBA records? Clippers was the championship favorites, yet they were held off to 6 games, with KP out and Luka experiencing minor ankle injury. This season, they have a better team and rotation, no doubt they will pass 1st round.
Things I don't like about Luka: 1. He is emotional and still obviously immature. (I understand tho that he is still 21yr old. I've seen 40+old men who are more childish.) 2. He needs to work on his shots. Yes, he's being double teamed. But if he (and also the rest of this team) doesn't work on the precision of his shots, Mavs will continue to struggle. Things I like about Luka: 1. He takes accountability for the things that go wrong - a sign of a good leader. As blaming your teammates only breeds toxic locker culture. 2. He admits his weaknesess and works hard to improve them. He doesn't have the 'I'm-a-superstar-and-you're-a-roleplayer mentality. He was taking less shots than usual and playing harder on his defense. Luka has a long way to go and has so many things to learn. Mavs fans are patient tho. Soon Kleber, Jrich, DFS, and Powell will be back. We will be okay. ☺️ #MFFL
Amazing how smart you all are here! Everyone would give advice and teach profesionals how to play! 🤔Why don't I see you in the NBA?!😤 Get ready to play BB or even report for a coach!🤣😂🤣😂
PetarD - Luka will grow out of it, not completely but not every play like he does when things aren’t going well for him. Slovenian’s won’t mind either. I’m sure Croatian’s don’t care that the Joker doesn’t complain. BTW, You can’t claim Luka’s style of game. Sure, it’s more European but the unselfish element of the game is what the NBA used to be like before ‘Black ball’ became the dominant style
@Fine Day I will tend to disagree with you about fruitless. Its a long term game. Habituating them that as a star here to stay, you will always remind their tortured souls in front of cameras of their mistakes. And all arbiters want is to be invisible. After a time, they will treat you like le bron or harden. Anyhow, my original proposition was not that it has its use but that it will never change. He wouldn't be considered a true son here were he to assimilate such mannerisms. And trust me, he cares of his status here very much. And we love him for it. He is beating the Nba with our style of game, playing with people, making them look like children. Long may it last... but stop complaining, he wont.
@Truth Hurts and it hasn't changed anything! Play on and maybe think about this. The officials already know that he's going to throw his hands up so maybe they already have their mind made up that they aren't going to call it. That's why I'm saying play on and hustle back and play defense
@Jojie Angelo Carranza luka fans u not the first i hear it all of time u hurt right now this your second day on here crying cuz i said hes not a mvp candidate cuz of his record u one of the same ones that say u can't say that we only 15 games in but at the same time u all luka's mvp well quess what where only 15 game just chill bro
@Ray Thomas am i? look a reply of me that says Luka is goat.. because somebody that supports luka calls him like that you will generalize them thats plain stupid..
@Jojie Angelo Carranza i don't hate him dude but when u already calling somebody a goat and his career just getting started u act he have a 4 rings right now like chill let him win first now just stop u butt hurt its the truth smh
@Ray Thomas lol get out of the 1st roound? as if Luka always lose in the 1st round.. did you forgot his only 21 yrs old and in his 3rd season? don't worry he will past the 1st round for many years.. he is just starting, you'll gonna hate him for a long long time so chillax bro..
KP would be efficient if he plays like this making a lot of cuts to the basket instead of shooting halfcourt threes every time he receive the ball in the logo..
Well it's actually dependent, who he meet on the paint... If it's gober or other big man, KP doesn't have body to go against them, so 3 point is the option.
hey his doing everything he can to get this team to win, even if that includes shooting less, great win for the mavs toay, and great triple double by Luka today, he got his30th triple double of his career, which is awesome, considering his such a young player, and luka's passes r so good man, idk how he does it, this kid is truly inspiring
He’s averaging a triple double at age 21. Are you serious?. In two seasons and 15 games he reached 28 triple doubles. It took Jordan 15 ENTIRE SEASONS to accomplish that. Maybe the other players should get a jump shot or a body like Luka’s? Are you blind? Or just racist?
Brilliant game by luka. Even when luka has not shot the ball well he finds other ways to help his team win. I know it’s still early but I think luka is running away with the mvp in my opinion so far.
@Allen Carpenter actually. Just checked advanced stats on Jokic. It does seem that purely based on stats Jokic is in front of the race, closely followed by KD. Lets see how this unfolds going forwards.
@Girts Jermacans yeah I seen them he got a claim 31 points a game 7.5 rebound 6 assist shooting 53 from field 87 from line so he's got claim here jokic stats 25 11 10 1.9 steals agame 85 free throw 57 field goal percentage kd got 1.3 blocks a gane to I forgot that one things going help kd hrs going play alot mins with that team and there going put up huge points and tgsts more chances at rebounds and assists and everything
@Kiinez he also pulled his hamstring or something. he was in pain for parts of the game. I guess he just let the boys play and took a backseat orchestrating rather than chipping in wich im cool with.
The last two games Luka has looked hesitant to shoot and drive to the lane something is wrong he’s not playing with the confidence he normally has I know they are double teaming him and using the box in 1 on him but the last two games you can tell he’s shying away from shooting his trademark step back three’s he isn’t driving and laying up as much he’s being more passive and timid. Even tonight it looked like he got hurt or injured early and he didn’t play like his normal self tonight after he got hurt in the beginning of the game.
Luka needs space in the floor... And that come with "3 POINTS SHOOTERS" they make the rival team be over them as well not only of Luka. currently the Mavs are the worst 3s% team.
it's because this past 2 games teams used box 1 defense to deny the ball to Luka.. in the raptors games it was successful for the raptors because no one besides luka can make shots that game.. but this time vs the pacers the MAVS solve it perfectly buy putting 3 shooters and get KP lurking inside..
i think if you are being double and tripled team, it's not smart to shoot, he's just trying to win games being smart with the ball and making the right play, if he continues like this, teams will not be able to double him bc he finds the open teammate and they score, if he just has one defender on him he will be back to usual
@eden 10 LeBron James played in the east was good dumbass he beat wizards the Pistons who went to back to back finals and the big three Celtics team to go the finals lol that's not easy and y'all make excuses didn't LeBron just won a championship playing in the west just like the Mavericks you just mad yourself look stupid
@Raymond Thomas Lol I didn't even mentioned you, did I? My reply was meant for the original comment. The fact that you keep on arguing about him in a thread that is not supposed to be yours speaks how much you hated the kid. So yes if you are one of those old overweight men who only finds comfort on being a basketball critic in youtube, take the shoe and wear it as it seem to fit you. 😌
@Precious Hernandez nobody hates him just thinks he isn't all of that and who cares what you think of me lol I'm not a basketball player and leave hid age out of this dude been playing pro ball every since 14 no excuses when he get locked up by other players are when they lose is somebody else's fault wake up sheep
