Today I realised Dallas Mavericks has a common problem alongside more NBA teams; a bunch of rookies who don’t play oftentimes. If NBA teams don’t let them play more minutes, they will be continuously treated as disposable merchandise. That’s what happens. Dallas Mavericks won against Rockets and Clippers, but they had the full squad. So, I understand when Luka says: “There’s no an excuse losing against Bulls and not having important players (due to COVID-19 protocols)”. He’s right.

Ok let's face it. The gamble for Porzingis is not working. The guy misses the half of the season and he can not be the one he was before the injury. Tim Hardaway, Kleber, Finney-Smith, Powell, Burke, Brunson, Cauley-Stein, Marjanovic, J.Johnson... I do not see any player from all of those who can upgrade his game or even be consistent... Most of them are valid role players... But that means they are average NBA players and in some cases not even that. The rookies are pretty raw... Maybe one or two of them will develop correctly and will become a good role player... Or maybe not. The team is inconsistent as hell because it has been built mostly over inconsistent players... Luka has great nights plus other nights where the shots do not fall... But he still averages almost a triple double... He has to score, he has to rebound and also make the pass... Not even MJ or LeBron were capable of do that and win without help. Luka has 46,5% of FG which is not bad for a guy who shoots a lot... And he is so unselfish, he always make the right play... Still everything he gets is a mediocre performance from his teammates and defeats against average NBA teams. I know Dallas have players off (Kleber, Hardaway, Finney-Smith, Brunson, Powell) but they were playing before and the team performance was similar. Richardson is maybe the best role player in the team has but he is certainly no star and he has not played very well until now. If Dallas do not have a good season they will have to do some big move in the post season in order to change things or Luka can start to think that he is not in the right place.
Luka has to do better than 2-11 (18%) 0-2 (0% 3p) for only 6 points in the second half. He needs to know that he has to look to score in order for this team to win especially with the absence of what? 5 key players. Great first half, but he needs to stop looking for the triple double so much. I feel like he’s doing what LBJ does a lot, which is stat pad when the game is out of reach. Fuck the triple double, go out and get the win at any cost. Score when you’re needed man, all that other shit will come naturally.

Point is Dirk never had an all star next to him or someone who is close to that. His best sidekick was Terry & he was a sixth man. Luka’s best teammate so far is KP, yes he has his injuries but he has the potential to become an all star when healthy. It’s still very early in Luka’s career, Dirk in his 3rd year didn’t have great teammates either but he stuck with this team through the bad. Luka needs to get out of Dallas once his rookie contract ends. Mavs can never entice good free agents so he's going to be stuck with glass knees KP, a few roleplayers, and a washed Carlisle. They wasted years of Dirks career by not getting him any decent running mates(despite taking ridiculous pay cuts) and they'll do the same to Luka.

I think it’s time to turn the page and seek for a new coach; a new mind with new ideas, new vision and new mentality. I mean Dallas have good players and misused...If someone don’t believe me, just look back to 2018-2019 season and see what Raptors did in the court. I can tell that Luka can make 50 points or higher if he wants. the fact that he scored 19 of the last 23 points and what? 30 in the first half?. he was attacking all day and his team can’t convert and he got a bit tired so he decided to just put up dimes later in this game. wow this kid is cash👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@Trevor Miller Well if you consider 9 rebounds and 10 assists getting absolutely cold than fair enough. He was trying to get his teammates to score so that they can gain confidence. Had Luka decided to go full James Harden mentality he would have scored 50 and everybody else on his team would have been with maximum 7-8 points for the game. With that inexperienced squad the Mavs would have lost even if he decided to go on the latter.

I know we're missing six players, but Luka is the only one that has even tried to win these last two games. He can only do so much. The other players need to match Luka's intensity.
6 players out 10 from the main rotation were out for this game. There is almost nothing you can do in that situation... No matter how good you are as a rookie/bench warmer, you can't really step up to be a solid starter for a playoff team when you didn't even have summer league and preseason games.

Hadn’t Luka done all this, this game would’ve turned into the Mavs vs Clippers a couple weeks ago, only this time it would have been in favor of the opposing team. They lost, and did so rather bigly, but even so, go Luka! What a great game for him! In addition he had his 3rd triple double of the year.
People are just watching the record. We lost a 20 point lead in last game vs OKC in what, couple of minutes. Against GSW an L after a game winning three. Then, games against Lakers, Clippers, Kings... If we won some of those games, especially these two I mentioned, like we should have, Bulls would now be sitting on a playoff spot. We are not a bad team, but a team that needs to find its way to win.
Not enough players left on the roster to step up and help the team. Luka was great, KP was ok. And then it was just rooks. Trey was lost out there - without THJ mavs needed him to be the 2nd/3rd guy. Bobi and Willie struggled. Overall shots not going. And surely Rick's gonna have some words about defence.
6 players, 3 starters and 2 2nd unit players lacking, was expected to be tough game when I heard THJ was out but was hoping a narrower game something like vsBucks..
KP can be a second star player but he is not in shape yet because he just came back since 6-8 months, he is also forcing too much his game due to Dallas missing most of their best role players (Maxi, Josh, THJ, Brunson, Powell). I'm liking Dallas a lot this seasson, let's see if we can get all the team healthy because that way Luka won't have to be a one-man army if KP doesn't have the night.

@Alen Zmaj well that’s why, you’re basing your opinion off highlights and small amount of games you guys get. Have you seen Luka’s attitude? The man gets frustrated when any call goes against him or not called. He sulks when he loses, and I’m not saying no other Maverick does similar things but Luka’s attitude at times is bad as well. Man all you’re doing is caping for Luka while dragging the whole team, this is one of the worst traits in a fan. You got to be able to call it like it is with everybody, including Luka.

You cant expect KP to do wonders in his second game back and trey burke can not play for G-league tema ffs. Dude had +/- -23 in 27 minutes. wtf?? His body was built to resist physical contact. He’s a PG with PF size and this combination makes of Luka a strong player. He looks big but he has strength.

..and the confidence to play with Luka. This is a (good if you can say that) loss. Especially in knowing when he's going to pass you the ball, because he does so at the very last minutia of a second of possession of the ball..... he finds a way.
